Is Instagram Removing Highlights in 2025?

Is Instagram Removing Highlights

Instagram is making improvements to the way Highlights appear on user profiles rather than removing the Highlights feature. Highlights, which provided instant access to specific Stories, were previously shown as circular icons beneath the bio section of a user’s profile.

Instagram is moving these Highlights to a separate section in the profile organized in order to improve user experience and streamline profile aesthetics. Instagram hasn’t formally announced these modifications, however.

Instagram has now started notifying users to this change, stating that the Story Highlights will now be located in their own part within the profile tabs rather than above the profile grid. This information was reported by Social Media Today.

Why is Instagram Removing Highlights?

The purpose of this change is to make the primary profile page look cleaner and more organized. The objective, according to Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri, is to make the profile layout simpler and put more details above the main content while still enabling users to pin stuff and access a special Highlights tab.

Additionally, Highlights’ function remains unchanged even when its position is changing. Highlights can still be created, edited, and deleted by users. Users who want to alter or remove a Highlight can sign in to the Instagram app, go to their profile, press and hold the Highlight they want, and then choose the relevant option.

Instagram’s continuous attempts to enhance its platform and boost user engagement includes this update. Instagram hopes to provide a more simplified profile layout by relocating Highlights to a different tab, which could improve how users engage with material.
